Professional coaching is often described as the most effective way of moving past the present circumstances of your life, career or business, to fully explore and achieve the most meaningful possibilities.

What might be possible if you regularly worked with someone to help you identify, focus and follow through on what was most important to you?

What sort of changes would be possible if that person provided the right mix of support, insight and challenge to keep you motivated, organized and progressing faster?

And if that person was an experienced and independent sounding board that held you true to yourself, would you be better able to achieve your most meaningful and fulfilling goals?

Of course you would, and that is why the client satisfaction rates of professional coaching is 98.5%. (And that is an average for all coaches!)

Another view on Coaching
(Or how to reach critical mass.)

What does it take to move from good to great?  In his book "Good to Great" author/researcher Jim Collins observes that in Corporate America, the organizations that truly excel are those that have found a way to unite their passions, (the things they truly care about) and their strengths, (the things that they are really good at) in an economic model that they understand and can optimize.

This is not news to coaches. Because at the heart of the masterful coaching - whether you are working with individuals or organizations - this is one of the key dynamics. Good Coaches are trained to help you find your passions, those things that you really care about, those things that bring you more fully alive.  Coaching can also help you understand what you are really good at, and help you get even better.  And finally, coaching can help you find the life, career or business that allows you to fully express your passions and strengths.

And whenever you line up these powerful areas of your life you reach critical mass, where some pretty amazing breakthroughs are possible. READ SOME SUCCESS STORIES

The ICF on Coaching

The ICF ( International Coach Federation) is the governing body of professional coaching, responsible for accrediting coaching schools, certifying coaches, and maintaining ethical practice guidelines.  The ICF's description of coaching is:

"Professional coaches provide an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Coaches help people improve their performances and enhance the quality of their lives.

Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize their approach to individual client needs. They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful. The coach's job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has."

What Clients Want From Coaching

Some clients come to coaching because they want to be more effective, change or move forward in their career, start a new business, or simply make more money.

Many want to get better organized, enjoy better health and relationships, have more leisure time, worry less, feel like they are more in control, make more of a difference, or find out what they are truly meant to do with their lives.

Whatever a client wants, it is the coach's job to help them get it.  And along the way a great coach will help clients discover what really matters to them, find out what brings them fully alive, and help them to create extraordinary lives full of effectiveness, fulfillment, balance, meaning, success and happiness.

Typical Steps in Coaching

Professional Coaches are highly trained professionals who help clients achieve their most meaningful goals faster, and with least effort.  Masterful coaches have the ability to draw out the very best in clients, and then guide them towards a more productive, balanced and fulfilling life. Typically, coach and clients work through a process that includes:

  • Clarifying a vision of the most successful outcome that the client might achieve through the coaching.

  • Designing a strong and effective coach/client working relationship.

  • Clarifying a client's values to assist in decision making.

  • Developing a solid, step-by-step plan to achieve the desired results.

  • Ongoing support to help implement and follow through with the planned actions.

  • Finding the right approach or perspective to make the entire journey rewarding.

Coaching vs. Therapy

Unlike many approaches to therapy, coaching is future based and doesn’t deal with old roadblocks. It is focused on helping people discover what it is that really gets them excited - what gifts or talents contribute the most to their success and fulfillment.  When clients develop clarity on who they really are, and what they want their life to be about, they rarely have a problem moving ahead strongly. In coaching this is done within a partnership of trust and confidentiality.
